After reading comments on some blog posts (at A VC in particular) I've gone down the rabbit hole and followed certain commenters as they engaged the blogger on different topics.

Disqus is important b/c it's a step towards the Internet becoming a (substantive) conversation, which is what the social web at its best can reproduce and expand upon.

Re: Serious customer loyalty

Here's a test comment with out new system!

Re: Blu-why

If you like, you can add the SnapDragon blog to your RSS reader using this URL: http://www.snapdragonconsultants.com/feed/

Re: Introducing SnapDragon Guest Blogger, Christoper DeWan

Your are Great. I love ping.fm, but it isn't perfect. As you said, the blogosphere is kind of a mess and they can't accommodate for everyone, but so far they seem to be doing a pretty good job. I just really hope that they or somebody can solve the problem they are attempting to solve really well. I'm curious to see what (if anything) happens with oembed. That could be a really useful service for standardizing re-blogged content. That said, Publr is about to be re-launched with some serious upgrades, that, I think will make it pretty unique and powerful in the micro-blogging world.

Re: Who Cares If 2008 Was The Year of Micro-blogging?

Hey, great write up, very in-depth look at micro-blogging. I could see some interesting "character-enhancing" features for bloggers. I would actually be interested in seeing a visualization of where posts originate from, maybe even a meter that averages how original a user's content is and how many times it's been reblogged, etc.

Re: iPhone vs. gPhone: Marketing to Early Adopters

The point is to pull in the developers since its open source and depends on them to evolve the platform as well the device to become a truly consumer (as well business) phone that trumps the walled garden of the iPhone.

,Michael Martin
http://www.googleandblog.com/

Re: An interesting new report from Forrester

This graphic made my day. Blogsearch are filled with spam and are more post search than blog search (i.e: the one result returned looks good but the rest of the blog isn't relevant), blog directories are plenty full but lack quality. It's easy to find a few blogs, say 50, but it's very hard to find all of them for a particular niche (and an organization that want to be serious listening to conversations has to do that on more than just a few). It's not a one click affair, it's a process. I've assembled huge list of blogs (1500 blogs on personal finance, 1000 blogs about blogging) and none of the tools mentioned above were good enough. So we built our own mechanism which is a mix of human sweat and machine algorithm. Our clients are happy we did that for them as now they can follow and engage with head/magic middle and long tail blogs whenever they are relevant to what the blogs is posting about.
